¡Oh, fuera yo el olimpo, que con vuelo
de eterna luz girando resplandece
cuando mengua Timbreo y Cintia crece
en el medroso horror del negro velo!
En lo mejor del noble hesperio suelo,
que cerca baña el Betis, y enriquece,
viera la alma belleza que florece
y esparce lumbre y puro ardor del cielo;
y en su candor clarísimo encendido,
volviera todo en llama, como espira
en fuego cuanto asciende al alta etra.
Tal vigor en sus rayos escondido
yace, que si con fuerza alguno mira
en ella, con más fuerza en él penetra.
