- XXXIV -
Huyo la blanda voz y el tierno canto,
que celeste armonía espira y suena,
desta, de España luz, gentil sirena;
mas vuelvo al fin sujeto al dulce encanto.
Bien sé que este placer acaba en llanto;
que esto es imagen cierta de mi pena,
y amor injusto siempre me condena,
porque sirvo y padezco y sufro tanto.
Ulises, que pudiste venturoso
surcar seguro y sin temor del daño
el golfo de la bella Leucosía,
¿Cuánto fueras más grande y valeroso
si tentaras perderte en este engaño
oyendo a la inmortal sirena mía?
