Acabe ya el lamento grande mío,
con quien inundo, Betis, tu corriente;
que mi dolor acerbo no consiente
perpetuo estado a tanto desvarío.
Este fuego en quien ardo gaste el frío,
rompa este yugo estrecho ya mi frente,
y amor en sus rendidos no me cuente;
que del a luengo paso me desvío.
No me tendrá en confuso error su olvido,
su desdén, su rigor y su tormento,
que tanto se cansaron en mi pena.
Mas yo ¿qué digo, ausente y ofendido,
si el impío ofrece siempre al pensamiento
de mi astro fatal la luz serena?
