Solo y medroso, del peligro cierto,
que en la guerra de Amor temido había,
con fortuna mejor tarde huía,
en tanta tempestad, seguro al puerto.
Mas en el paso del camino incierto,
cuando con más descuido proseguía,
Amor, que en vuestros ojos me atendía,
de un golpe atravesó mi pecho abierto.
Y antes que yo pudiese de mi pena
alabar la ventura, envidioso,
huyó con vos y me dejó perdido,
cual huye el parto, do el Eúfrates suena,
y revuelve el caballo presuroso,
dejando al fiero contendor herido.
