En vano error de dulce engaño espero,
y en la esperanza de mi bien porfío,
y aunque veo perderme, el desvarío
me lleva del Amor a donde muero.
Ojos de mi deseo, fin postrero,
sola ocasión del alto furor mío,
tended la luz, romped aqueste frío
temor, que me derriba en dolor fiero;
porque mi pena es tal que tanta gloria
en mí no cabe, y desespero cuando
veo que el mal no debo merecello,
pues venzo mi pasión con la memoria
y con la honra de saber penando,
que nunca a Troya ardió fuego tan bello.
