Oye tú solo, eterno y sacro río,
el grave y mustio son de mi lamento,
y mezclado en tu grande crecimiento
lleva al padre Nereo el llanto mío.

Los suspiros ardientes, que a ti envío,
antes que los derrame leve viento,
acoge en tu sonante movimiento
porque se esconda en ti mi desvarío.

No sean más testigos de mi pena
los árboles, las peñas, que solían
responder y quejarse a mi gemido,

y en estas hondas y corriente llena,
a quien vencen mis lágrimas porfían,
viva siempre mi mal y amor crecido.
