Por vuestros ojos juro, Elisa mía
-así con larga paz el cielo amigo
pueda volver de nuevo a ser testigo
de aquel morir, do vida se incluía-,

que así cesó del monte el alegría
desque cesaste vos de estar conmigo,
como va por nocturno y sin abrigo,
cuando alto siente, el causador del día.

Y yo, por dar más fuerza a mi cuidado,
juré de siempre estar con baja frente
y a nunca ver mi cara me dispongo;

tal que, si alguna vez traigo el ganado
para abrevarlo en clara y fresca fuente,
los ojos cierro y nuevo curso impongo.
