Yace en esta que veis cava cubierta
un cuerpo de valor tan soberano
que, cuando muerte en él puso la mano,
de la vida mayor fue muerte muerta.
Rompiendo el alma está la baja puerta
do habita el desleal ángel tirano,
dejando para el bien ultramundano
otra de libertad gloriosa abierta.
Cuando murió, cayó Naturaleza
sobre sí misma, en torno le lloraron
los cielos, que de luto se cubrieron;
las piedras trasladaron su dureza
en el pecho del hombre y de él tomaron
la razón del dolor con que se abrieron.
