Cuando me paro a contemplar la vida,
y echo los ojos con mi pensamiento
a ver los lasos miembros sin aliento,
y la robusta edad enflaquecida,

y aquella juventud rica y florida,
cual llama de candela en presto viento
batida con tan recio movimiento,
que a pique estuvo ya de ser perdida,

condeno de mi vida la tibieza
y el grande desconcierto en que he andado
que a tal peligro presto me tuvieron.

Y con velocidad y ligereza
determino de huir de aqueste estado,
do mis continuas culpas me pusieron.
