- CCXXXIII - A la princesa de Molfeta

Como el que de escorpión fue ya mordido,
si de allí en algún tiempo se le acuerda,
se altera, se demuda y desacuerda
y pierde la color y aun el sentido,
mi alma que improviso acaso vido
la beldad que a mi mal tan mal concuerda,
hizo que la color del rostro pierda
la memoria de haber sido ofendido.
No fue flaqueza, no, ni son amores:
la injuria al corazón ha salteado
y dio de justa cólera testigo.
No hace al caso, no, mudar colores,
señora, porque un hombre demudado
acomete mejor a su enemigo.
