El amoroso piélago corría
la nave del curioso entendimiento,
y no sin ocasión miraba atento
las islas más hermosas que en él vía.
Al fin de navegar arribé un día,
cansado ya de ver islas sin cuento,
en la bella Sicilia, do contento
quedé de aquel deseo que tenía.
Y visto todo el bien que puede verse,
exclamaba diciendo: «¡Oh soberano
aquél que habrá de ti la alta corona!
Si por milagro, Amor, puede hacerse,
haz que sea una hora siciliano,
ya que no puede ser de Barcelona.»
