Cuando algún hecho grande y glorioso
o victoria de ejército alcanzaban,
arcos, colosos, mármoles alzaban
los romanos al que era victorioso.

Quedaba el nombre así de aquel famoso,
y de una envidia honesta despertaban
los ánimos de aquellos que aspiraban
venir a un fin tan alto y glorioso.

Estos escudos de armas, los trofeos,
las memorias que veis en cada parte,
príncipe digno de inmortal historia,

despertadores son de los deseos
que a un hijo tal cual vos del nuevo Marte
harán subir a la paterna gloria.
