En un bastón de acebo que traía
por sostener el cuerpo trabajado,
Vandalio de su mano había entallado
la imagen que en el alma poseía.
Y como que presente la tenía,
mirando de ella el natural traslado,
envuelto en un suspiro apasionado,
con lágrimas llorando le decía:
«Dórida, si mirando esta figura
siento el alma encender, siento abrasarme,
piensa qué será ver tu hermosura.
Si así puedes ver tu hermosura
di cuándo acabará mi desventura.
Mas no querrás hablar por no hablarme.»
