Ni la africana sierra excelsa y brava,
ni las bárbaras armas, crudas, fieras,
ni tu sangre esparcida en sus riberas,
que el cielo de la honra derramaba,
ni la furia cruel que trastornaba
ante ti tantas naves y galeras,
ni el viento que en el campo las banderas
del fiero Marte a su pesar postraba,
ni la gálida espada y torre fuerte,
ni en Dura el duro asalto y duro hado,
contra del cual no hay fuerza que resista,
pudieron por más mal darte la muerte,
Iberino pastor desventurado,
y agora mueres de una dulce vista.
