Si está en opinión, Lavinio caro,
del más dulce pastor, del más sabroso,
si por mil buenas partes glorioso
te ha hecho el cielo señalado y claro,

¿por qué de tu cantar único y raro,
del estilo tan alto y tan famoso,
de las pinturas de tu mal rabioso,
pues tan honrosas son, eres avaro?

Ya que el mundo escuchar no te merece,
¿no miras que no es bien entre los bienes
si no se comunica y se reparte?

Ni en leyes de amistad se compadece,
pues das a todo el mundo lo que tienes,
que de tanta virtud no nos des parte.
