Si por prueba mayor de su victoria
mostrando va Perseo la peligrosa
cabeza de Medusa, y por tal cosa
fue consagrado a la inmortal memoria,

¡cuánto sois digno vos de mayor gloria,
que otra nueva Medusa y más hermosa
os ha vencido, y cuanto más honrosa
que fue su vencimiento, es vuestra historia!

Estad, señor, con tal retrato ufano;
que si Perseo lo viese, él trocaría
en vos su vencimiento y sus loores.

Pero no lo mostréis tan a la mano,
que si aquella mató mientras vivía,
la sombra de esta matará de amores.
