Si jamás el morir se probó en vida,
yo triste soy el que lo pruebo y siento
con extraño dolor, pena y tormento,
en esta trabajosa mi partida.
Mi alma en vuestro gesto embebecida,
mirándoos se henchía de un contento
tal, que de ufano ya mi sufrimiento
gloria le era la pena más crecida.
Mas hora que de vos me alejo tanto,
¿cuál consuelo será que me consuele,
que no sienta en partir la misma muerte,
si me muestra el temor visión de espanto,
que asombrándome hace que recele
de vos, de amor, del tiempo y de la suerte?
