Cuando a escribir de vos el alma mía
se mueve, tanto que alabar se ofrece
que el ingenio y el arte desfallece
y sólo el desear queda por guía.

Este deseo la tira y la desvía
de cuanto acá hermoso nos parece,
y en la eterna beldad do resplandece
la que vemos acá, mira y porfía.

De aquí nace otro efecto: que mirando
vuestra beldad en la beldad del cielo,
entre las otras puesta en alta cima,

se inflama de otro ardor que sentía cuando
acá os miraba, y de un más limpio celo.
¡Qué el bien más conocido más se estima!
