En el gozo mayor, en el contento
de mayor calidad que se desea,
en el bien que no hay bien que igual le sea,
y en la gloria mayor de mi tormento,
me sale de través un pensamiento,
¡ay Dios, qué gran error, qué cosa fea!,
y me hace creer que nos lo crea.
¡Ved cuál queda con esto el sentimiento!
Me dice que es ficción, que es una sombra,
cierto disimular, falsa apariencia,
que no viene de amor tales afectos.
Y el alma que de tal visión se asombra,
tanto le amarga al gusto esta dolencia
que apenas siente el bien de estos efectos.
