Cruel y venturosa celosía,
si de humano sentido alcanzas parte,
¿por qué enemiga así quieres mostrarte
al mundo, a mí y a la señora mía?
Cuanta el mundo beldad mirar podría,
celas con importuna e envidiosa arte;
a mí causas dolor con tu cerrarte
y a mi señora ofende tu porfía.
Ella quiere ser vista por que vea
la tierra el mayor bien que puede verse,
y el cielo la beldad que allá desea.
¡Aquel fuego que en mí pudo encenderse
te abrase! Pero no, porque no sea
tu encenderse ocasión de tu esconderse.
