Ya me vi de pavor puesto tan alto,
de los bienes de amor tan regalado,
tan cerca de gozar, tan bien tratado,
que no temiera de fortuna el salto.

Mas, ¡ay, mísero yo!, ¿ de qué me exalto,
si ahora de mi bien tan desdeñado,
tan fuera de pavor, tan agraviado
me veo, sin porqué tan pobre y falto?

Ventura, ¿para qué, para qué han sido
juntos tantos regalos y favores?
¿Para qué tanto bien? ¿Para perdello?

Mis altas esperanzas, ¿do se han ido?
Mas, ¡ay! que es ley de amor en los amores
que quien muda de fe, muera por ello.
