Aquel nudo que ya debía ser suelto
después que pude ver claros mis daños,
llevándose tras sí los tristes años
en perpetua prisión me tiene envuelto.
¿Quién pensará jamás viendo tan vuelto,
tan mezclado un amor con mil engaños,
pudiera el corazón en tan extraños
lazos permanecer preso y revuelto?
Mas si la voluntad de un firme amante
puede el tiempo mudar, si libre verme
puedo una vez de este enojoso nudo,
de aquel mismo valor, de aquel diamante
que es agora mi fe, pienso hacerme
a los ojos un yelmo, al alma escudo.
