Con gran curiosidad, con gran cuidado,
por la rara beldad que en ellos vía,
curaba sus cabellos noche y día
el famoso David el hijo amado.
Cuando, crecidos ya, siendo aquejado
del valiente Joab que lo seguía,
de los cabellos que él criado había
para su mal se vio quedar colgado.
Así un luengo esperar, dudoso, incierto,
a costa del vivir crió el deseo
y puso toda en él su confianza;
hasta que, ya el engaño descubierto,
siguiéndome el dolor, quedarse veo
colgado el desear de la esperanza.
