Golfo de mar con gran fortuna airado
se puede comparar la vida mía;
van las ondas do el viento las envía
y las de mi vivir do quiere el hado;
no hallan suelo al golfo, ni hallado
será cabo jamás en mi porfía;
en el golfo hay mil monstruos que el mar cría,
mi recelo mil monstruos ha criado;
en el mar guía el norte, a mí una estrella;
nadie se fía del mar, de nada fío;
vase allí con temor, yo temeroso;
por mis cuidados van, naves por ella.
Y si en algo difiere el vivir mío,
es que se aplaca el mar, yo no reposo.
