Por nuestro polo el sol no parecía,
al venturoso Antártico alumbraba,
cuando un pastor que, sin él, ciego estaba,
con lágrimas llorando así decía:
«¡Oh luz sola que luz da al alma mía!
Mas, ¡ay!, ¿qué digo luz?: que la daba
cuando dejaros ver ya os agradaba.
¿Quién de veros me aparta y me desvía?
Si no merece ver beldad del cielo
un mísero pastor desventurado,
si no os queréis mostrar porque no os vea,
considerad, por Dios, gloria del suelo,
que el alma, que ya en vos se ha transformado,
no os dejará de ver doquier que sea.»
