Si el celeste pintor no se extremara
en haceros extremo de hermosura,
si cuanto puede dar beldad natura
tan natural en vos no se mostrara,

ni el retrato imperfecto se juzgara,
ni me quejara yo de mi ventura,
porque correspondiera la pintura
al vivo original do se sacara.

Pero, dama, pues ya no vive Fidia,
ni humano genio basta a retrataros,
sin que quede confusa o falsa el arte,

debéis, para que no muera de envidia
las menos que vos bellas, contentaros
con ver de lo que sois sola esa parte.
