Cual doncella hermosa y delicada
que en verde prado está, de flores lleno,
el ánimo del mal de amor ajeno
tejiendo una guirnalda, descuidada,

estando en su labor toda ocupada,
fría serpiente se le entró en el seno,
y apenas se apercibe del veneno,
que en el alma la siente atravesada,

descuidada se andaba el alma mía,
recreándose sola entre las flores
que en el prado de Amor había cogido,

cuando turbarse vio la fantasía
y entrar helado entre el ardor de amores
un áspide celoso en el sentido.
