Ribera un dulce río, a mediodía,
con un peine de plata se peinaba
cabellos una ninfa que quitaba
con ellos el poder que el sol tenía.
Y así podéis juzgar que sentiría
un pastor que de lejos la miraba,
que sin poder llegar donde ella estaba,
con suspiros y lágrimas decía:
«Si tantas como tú tienes cabellos
tuviera vidas yo, me las llevaras
colgada cada cual de uno de ellos;
y pues que tú a quitármelas bastaras,
verás no es mucho darte una por vellos
de tantas como en tantos me quitaras».
