Pensando en su ganado, a la ribera
del mar, y no de amar, Silvano estaba
seguro, porque el triste no pensaba
que en él toda su fuerza Amor pusiera,
cuando vio a una pastora que pudiera,
con sólo la hermosura que alcanzaba,
hacer que, cuando el sol se nos mostraba
más claro, muy oscuro pareciera.
Quedó el pastor de sólo aquesta vista
herido de la muerte que aquí pinto,
con lágrimas los prados él bañando,
diciendo: «No hay sujeto que resista,
pastores, a mi mal, porque el distinto
que tengo se me va, triste, acabando».
