- XIII - Ícaro

Con Ícaro, de Creta se escapaba
Dédalo, y ya las alas extendía,
y al hijo, que volando le seguía,
con amor maternal amonestaba:

Que si el vuelo más alto levantaba,
la cera con el sol se desharía,
y en el mismo peligro le pondría
el agua y su vapor, si más bajaba.

Mas el soberbio mozo, y poco experto,
enderezóse luego al alo cielo
y, ablandada la cera en la altura,

perdió las alas, y en el aire muerto,
recibiéndole el mar del alto vuelo,
por el nombre le dio la sepultura.
