Pastora en quien mostrar quiso natura,
a la miseria de este bajo suelo,
la más cierta señal del bien del cielo
y un claro sol en la tiniebla oscura,

si pastoral ingenio a tanta altura
pudiese levantar su corto vuelo,
que cantase Damón cuanto consuelo
es verte y no te ver cuál desventura,

desde el un polo al otro se sabría
que no yo solo, más cualquier que ausente
de tu presencia vive, oh Galatea,

debe sentir la misma pasión mía,
pues sola en ti se halla juntamente
cuanto bien se procura y se desea.
