¡Oh sin ventura yo, oh mal nacido!
¿En qué estrella cruel vine a la tierra
sujeto a tierno llanto, a dura guerra,
a siempre amar sin serme agradecido?
¿Cuál hado inexorable me ha traído
a las manos de un tigre, en que se encierra
beldad del cielo y crueldad de tierra,
mi alma en el abismo del olvido?
¡Ay, enemigo cruel!, ¿y quién creyera
que estaban en mi muerte conjurados
tan nueva ingratitud y tal crudeza?
¡Ay vida, y tiempo, y horas mal gastadas!
¡No quiera Dios que adore yo a una fiera
que paga tanto amor con tal dureza!
