Cuando contemplo el triste estado mío
y se me acuerda mi dichoso estado,
hallo mi ser en todo tan trocado,
que pensar tuve bien es desvarío.

Con mi memoria por mi mal porfío,
pues, sino es esperanza en bien pasado,
y en ella con razón fui confiado,
con muy mayor ahora desconfío.

Ausencia, de pasiones padre y fuente
junta con el temor de vuestro olvido,
del cual aun en presencia me temía,

hacen con fuerza del dolor presente
parecerme, según ya estoy perdido,
que ni fue ni vi entonces lo que vía.
