¡Cuál doloroso estilo bastaría,
en el común dolor que nos aterra,
a mostrar parte, o lamentar la guerra
que al mundo le hizo muerte en sólo un día,
cuando dispuso de quien disponía
del mundo, con valor tal, que se encierra
muerto, más inmortal, en poca tierra
el que todo le amaba y le temía!
Y como otro dolor no se ha igualado
al de este triste y lamentable caso,
así debe llorar eternamente;
y el nombre justamente tan nombrado
del Vasto, por las cumbres del Parnaso
celebrándose irá de gente en gente.
