En su fiera grandeza confiando,
los ánimos tan altos levantaban
los gigantes de Flegra, que esperaban
de vencer a los dioses guerreando;

y contra el alto cielo, no dudando,
las belicosas máquinas alzaban,
y a comenzar el hecho ya se estaban
con superbo furor aparejando;

cuando Júpiter, esto conociendo,
luego quiso que fuesen castigados
del bestial movimiento de su guerra,

y con rayos el aire oscureciendo,
después de todos ser despedazados,
con ellos abrasó toda la tierra.
