La grave enfermedad que en Silvia vía
lloraba triste su pastor Silvano,
cuando, mirando en la siniestra mano,
le vio un agudo hierro que tenía,

así diciendo: «De la furia mía
guárdese todo corazón humano».
¿Y qué hará con alegre gesto y sano
la que doliente y tal esto hacía?

Mostró que, pues peligro descubierto
tan claro desengaña al que le viere,
huyan todos la muerte conocida,

porque el daño mayor está encubierto,
que el triste que a quererla se atreviere
harto más aventura que la vida.
