y, pues tan altamente aquí se emplea,
de amor se canten versos a porfía;
que hoy hinchen nuestros campos de alegría
con su vista la bella Galatea;
hoy huye en parte do jamás se vea
la gran tristeza que sin ella había».
Así dijo Damón, y los pastores,
al son de sus zampoñas, comenzaron
a alabar aquel día tan venturoso;
la ninfas del Tesín, llenas de flores,
con su suave concepto acompañaron
el canto pastoral dulce y sabroso.
