En muy suave aunque en muy gran tormento
vivo, y arderme siento en dulce fuego,
do en vivas llamas hallo un gran sosiego
y en extrema pasión contentamiento.

¿Con qué manera de agradecimiento
pagaré amor que en tal desasosiego,
y en el extremo de pasión do llego,
me tiene con su causa tan contento?

Sólo mostrarme puedo agradecido
en contentarme ahora y en pesarme
que me halla Amor tal pena dilatado;

que pues tal ocasión había de darme,
con razón llamaré tiempo perdido
el que sin padecer se me ha pasado.
