De tus asombros la razón vencida
el amor en desprecio se convierte,
que estás tan receloso de la muerte
es el mayor achaque de la vida.
Quien la respiración nos da medida
con eficaz ejemplo nos advierte,
que ni el riesgo a recatos se divierte,
ni de seguridades se convida.
Estos mismos instantes que componen
el tiempo que las vidas se dilatan,
son de su brevedad premisas ciertas.
Si te amedrentan más que te disponen
con sólo el miedo de morir te matan,
temes la muerte y a vivir no aciertas.
