El Héroe invicto que el vital aliento
victorioso rindió a la suerte dura,
en muerte que inmortal vida asegura
la gloria conmutó del vencimiento.

Excesos permitiendo al sentimiento
que alterar pueden la región más pura,
su fiel consorte revocar procura
fatales leyes con quejoso acento.

El alma que en los dos se dividía,
despedida del uno y otro pecho
en este mármol vive, en él porfía.

Nueva vida infundir al tronco helado,
del dolor persuadida sin provecho
a unir lo que la muerte ha separado.
