Entonces vivo, porque muero, cuando
me enseña amor a más morir, viviendo;
que no es pena el morir, es vida, habiendo
morir que se dispone, no acabando.
Morir procura amor, siéndole blando
fin, que no ha de ser fin; y feneciendo
se construye más vida, pues naciendo
nada se inmortaliza, sino amando.
En este, pues, hilado laberinto,
fiscal y actor a un tiempo de mi vida,
en última la enseño a ser primera.
Muerto, sí, me verán, mas no distinto;
dará a su muerte ser quien fue, no siendo,
si al fin mi ser no ser entonces era.
