¿De qué seno infernal, de cuyo seno
fuego infame, te opones al glorioso?
De origen dulce, efecto venenoso,
yo mismo te idolatro y te condeno.

Sólo es verdad en ti, de horrores lleno,
el martirio, el objeto mentiroso.
¿Qué mayores indicios de alevoso
que tener siempre equívoco el veneno?

Más que mucho, si Alcides arrogante,
Jove humano, adoptado de los cielos,
ya furioso por ti, ya flaco expira.

Excedió desdeñoso, cedió amante;
lo mortal sólo confesó a los celos;
vivo le dio mortaja Deyanira.
