Como el triste que a muerte es condenado
gran tiempo ha, y lo sabe y se consuela,
que el uso de vivir siempre en cuidado
hace que no se sienta ni se duela,

si le hacen creer que es perdonado
de morir cuando menos se recela,
la congoja y dolor siente doblado,
y más el sobresalto lo desvela;

así yo, que en miserias hice callo,
si alguna vanagloria me era dada
presto me vi sin ella y olvidado.

amor lo dio y amor pudo quitallo;
la vida congojosa toda es nada,
y ríese la muerte del cuidado.
