En la fuente más clara y apartada
del monte al casto coro consagrado,
vi entre las nueve hermanas asentada
una hermosa ninfa al diestro lado.

En cabello se estaba, coronada
de verde hiedra y arrayán mezclado,
en traje extraño y lengua desusada,
dando y quitando leyes a su grado.

Vi como sobre todas parecía;
que no fue poco ver hombre mortal
inmortal hermosura y voz divina.

Y conocila ser doña María,
la que al cielo dio al mundo por señal
de la parte mejor que en sí tenía.
