Tiempo fue de dolor el que yo tuve
sujeto a dura voluntad ajena;
tiempo fue en que perdí mi grande pena;
mas en perder más fiero mal sostuve.
Tiempo fue de mi afrenta aquel do estuve
atado y sin valor en la cadena;
tiempo fue en que cerré a la luz serena
los ojos, y en error perdido anduve.
Tiempo es ya que no duerman en su engaño
mis sentidos; ya es tiempo que deshaga
la razón mi porfía y devaneo;
que ya no es justo conocer el daño
y abrazar la ocasión aunque en la llaga
siempre abierta respire mi deseo.
