¿Por qué renuevas este encendimiento,
tirano Amor, en mi herido pecho,
que ya casi olvidado del mal hecho
vivía en soledad de mi tormento?
Cuando más descuidado y más contento
revuelves a meterme en tanto estrecho,
oblígasme, cruel, que a mi despecho
procure contrastar tu fiero intento.
Las armas, en el templo ya colgadas,
visto y el acerado escudo embrazo
y en mi venganza salgo a la batalla.
Mas ¡ay! que a las saetas, que templadas
en la luz de mi Estrella están, y al brazo
tuyo no pude resistir la malla.
