A vuestro grave y muerto hielo frío,
temiendo el niño ciego su aspereza,
opuso con inútil rustiqueza
el leve y vivo ardiente fuego mío.

Su nieve muestra y llama el fuego y frío,
y reluchando esfuerza su grandeza;
el fuego al frío ablanda su dureza
y dispone veloz cual suelto río.

Quedó Amor del asalto glorioso,
y vos y yo contentos nos hallamos,
pero todo mi bien turbose luego;

que por un triste caso y lastimoso
con mi afrenta y dolor ambos quedamos,
con mayor frío vos, yo con más fuego.
