Aquel sagrado ardor que resplandece
en la belleza de la Aurora mía,
mi espíritu moviendo, al pecho envía
la pura imagen que en mi alma crece.

En ella está fijada, y de allí ofrece
al pecho su valor en compañía,
y de sí misma efectos altos cría,
con que mi ingenio y nombre se engrandece.

Vuelo tan alto, que con rayo fiero
o con ardiente sol fuera impedido
si no me diera aliento mi Luz pura;

mas, ya que muero como siempre espero,
ni en mar seré ni en río sumergido;
que el mundo me será la sepultura.
