Do el mauritano ponto fiero baña
de la soberbia Argel el fuerte muro,
el cielo con terror y horror oscuro
amenazó al muerte a toda España.
Bramaba el mar, ardiendo en ira extraña;
bramando ardía airado el mar perjuro;
sólo en tanto pavor domó seguro
César del hado adverso la impía saña.
El piélago y aliento embravecido
abatieron su ímpetu indignado,
y respiró el medroso y libio suelo.
Ve alegre, corazón nunca vencido;
que la victoria no te impide el hado,
ni el viento y mar cruel; más todo el cielo.
