de mi Luz, por do en propia o tierra ajena
nunca otro español pie imprimió la arena,
siguiendo Cintia y Delia a vuestro amante.

Seré el primero osado que levante
la humilde voz do el Betis grande suena,
y que las flores coja a mano llena
del rico huerto nuestro y abundante.

Vos, a quien de Cefiso, Eurota, Ismeno
las dulces ondas bañan, y del Tebro,
oíd mi canto y dad a Amor la gloria;

porque admirando el esplendor sereno
de mi Luz, ni al Erídano ni al Ebro
pensaréis honorar con la victoria.
